Bladewerx ships New Alpha Sample Counter
Albuquerque, New Mexico, 27 September, 2004--Bladewerx announced today its newest instrument, the SabreASCTM Alpha Sample Counter. Based on the Bladewerx SabreMCATM multi-channel-analyzer board, the SabreASC performs spectrum peak-fitting to separate the contributions of radon progeny from the counts due to transuranic isotopes, allowing immediate measurement and classification of swipes, filters and planchettes.
The Windows-based SabreASC Assistant software, supplied with the instrument, displays gross alpha count rate, together with the Pu-239--or other isotope-of-interest--activity and error in a text window, as well as separate panes showing the spectrum and strip chart of activity, MDA and Action Level. An automatic minimum count time feature guarantees the quickest completion of the count based on a user-supplied Action Level and maximum Pu-239 reading error.
The first order for SabreASC counters was delivered and the instrument is in production and immediately available for order.
